Ibsen Society of America
The Ibsen Society of America (ISA) is a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of New York and devoted to the study of Henrik Ibsen. It is officially affiliated with the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study (SASS) and holds business and program meetings at the annual SASS conference, which is held at a US university. The ISA welcomes as members both academics and non-academics who are interested in Ibsen's work. Dues are $25 annually ($15 for students). The ISA supports Ibsen performances and Ibsen events, often working with theatres, organizations (like Scandinavia House in New York City), Norwegian consulates, and others to promote Ibsen activities and conferences. In 2003, it held the tri-ennial International Ibsen Conference (under the aegis of the Ibsen Center, University of Oslo) at Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York. The ISA publishes an annual journal, "Ibsen News and Comment," in which ISA members review new productions of Ibsen's plays and new articles and books on Ibsen.
